SUMMER IS HERE!
Summer has arrived, bringing long, sunny days and rising temperatures. I know many summer lovers (me included) embrace the warmth after chilly damp winter, but it can also be overwhelming with how fast the heat arrives! Here are some ideas to beat the heat and stay organized all season long!

Cool Down Your Home
Keeping your home cool is essential for comfort during these hot months. Here are few ideas to help you keep your home the coolest-
- Use Blackout Curtains: These can block out the sun’s rays and help maintain a cooler temperature indoors. Close them during the hottest parts of the day. These curtains also help you sleep well at night and keep that 6am sunrise from waking you up!
- Optimize Fan Use: Place fans strategically to create cross-ventilation. You can also use a bowl of ice in front of a fan for an extra cooling hack.
- Maintain Your Air Conditioner: Clean or replace filters regularly and consider scheduling a professional check-up to ensure it’s running efficiently. Tip: We use vinegar periodically to keep the pipes from getting clogged.
Stay Hydrated
Hydration is key to beating the heat. Make drinking water a habit and keep it interesting-
- Infuse Your Water: Add slices of fruits like lemon, lime, blueberries or cucumber, and herbs like mint or basil to your water for a refreshing twist.
- Keep a Water Bottle Handy: Invest in a good-quality, insulated water bottle to keep your drinks cold for hours. Carry it with you everywhere you go. Mine is part of me! I have my silver 32 oz. Yeti filled with water 24/7 from my car to my bedside table.

Eat Light and Fresh Meals
Avoiding heavy, hot meals can help you feel cooler and more energized.
- Salads and Smoothies: Anyone who knows me knows my love of daily smoothies! I add greens, turmeric, cinnamon, flax seeds, berries and it’s my powerhouse meal. Fresh fruits and veggies found in smoothies, salads, and light wraps are perfect for summer and great health!
- Grill Outdoors: Take advantage of the warm weather and cook outside. Grilling keeps the heat out of the kitchen, it’s a fun and social way to enjoy meals too. I love veggie skewers and corn -You can do more than just burgers and dogs on the grill!

Plan Summer Activities
Stay active and organized with a summer schedule that includes fun and cooling-off activities.
- Water Fun: Plan trips to the beach, pool, boating or a local water park. Water activities are a great way to cool down and have fun.
- Early Morning or Late Evening Exercise: Avoid the midday heat by scheduling outdoor exercise for the cooler parts of the day. If you can jump into a pool after a workout-even better!
- Indoor Hobbies: Explore hobbies that keep you cool indoors, such as reading, crafting, or trying out new recipes.
Keep Your Car Cool
Don’t forget about your vehicle – a hot car can be unbearable. How many times have you jumped into your car only to have your back and underside scorched? You begin to sweat profusely before even starting the car-
- Use Sunshades: Reflective sunshades can significantly reduce the temperature inside your car.
- Park Smart: Whenever possible, park in shaded areas or garages.
- Open it up Before Driving: Open windows and doors to let the hot air out, or get the A/C rolling before even getting in.
- Water bottle: remember your water bottle filled with ice!
Declutter Your Space
Here’s the organizing pitch! Summer is the perfect time to declutter and reorganize your living spaces. A tidy home can feel cooler and more relaxing. Plus, you now have an excuse to get out of the heat and into the shade or cool indoors.
- Sort Through Seasonal Clothes: Pack away winter clothes and bring out your summer wardrobe. Donate or recycle items you no longer need.
- Rearrange Furniture: Create a more open and airy space by moving furniture around. This can improve air circulation and give your home a fresh look.
- Clean Up Outdoor Spaces: Clean patios, decks, and balconies. Organize gardening tools and outdoor toys for easy access.
The hot summer days can be hard to handle but with some planning, the heat is easy to beat. Spend the hottest part of the days indoors or out of the direct sun, and the evenings outdoors grilling out and watching the lightning bugs
Happy Organizing! Reach out if you could use some help getting your space to the happy haven you desire!
